It was formed in January 2001 as a form of Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital's concern for comprehensive drug services, at which time the trend of cases of drug abuse using injection needles was so high that there was a very high increase in cases of HIV and Hepatitis C in the community. Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital through its Drug Services helps the community to take preventive and curative measures against the risks resulting from drug abuse. The IPK Drug Service has a Hospital Base based TC service program which services consist of outpatient and inpatient care (MPE program, basic program, intermediate program and aftercare program) for 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and after the inpatient recovery period is complete.
The programs implemented at this installation are managed by various scientific disciplines consisting of general practitioners, psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, addiction counselors and midwives who are certified in drug knowledge. Currently, the Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital Drug Addiction Recovery Service is the provider for RSJ and RSU which will form and develop drug services at their hospitals.
