Tuesday, February 6 2024, the National Mental Health Center Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital (PKJN RSMM) held a General Lecture of Psychiatric Biobanking with the theme ''Leapfrogging into the Era of Precision Psychiatry in Indonesia.'' This is related to the development of the Gene Bank within the PKJN environment RSMM and will make PKJN RSMM the 10th BGSi Hub. Biomedical and Genome Science Initiative (BGSi) is the first integrated genome-based biomedical service initiative in Indonesia which was established to accelerate Indonesia towards precision medicine. BGSi was inaugurated by the Minister of Health, Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, CHFC, CLU on August 14 2022 and has its head office in the Eijkman building located in the area of RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Jakarta.
Through the Ministry of Health's digital transformation mission in the field of biomedical innovation and public health, BGSi aims to support improved diagnosis, care and treatment services for diseases that have a significant impact at the national level using genome information.
BGSi has 9 National Hospitals appointed as partners to provide genome services. One of BGSi's goals is to improve health services for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and stroke which are the main causes of death in Indonesia.
The General Lecture of Psychiatric Biobanking activity started at 08.00 WIB, starting with remarks from Dr. Dr. Nova Riyanti Yusuf, Sp.KJ as Main Director of PKJN RSMM and moderator for the first session. The event continued by Prof. Dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Sp.PD-KEMD., Ph.D. as Deputy Minister of Health, Republic of Indonesia who delivered the Keynote Speech before the main speaker explained his material. At 09.00, Kotaro Hattori, M.D., Ph.D. as Director, Department of Bioresources Medical Genome Center, National Center for Neurology and Psychiatry, Japan gave a General Lecture related to Psychiatric Biobanking. PKJN RSMM has signed an MoU with the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry in Japan in August 2023. The material provided by Kotari Hattori is expected to increase awareness among health professionals, researchers and related stakeholders about the importance of Psychiatric Biobanking and its role in advancing psychiatric treatment. which is precise.
The event continued into the second session moderated by Dr. Rahmi Handayani, Sp.KJ, MARS as Medical and Nursing Director of PKJN RSMM. There were 2 speakers, namely Indri Rooslamiati, M.Sc. Apt. as Team Leader of BGSi, Ministry of Health. He delivered a presentation regarding the "Intoduction of BGSi" in which he explained that BGSi is part of the Ministry of Health's health transformation agenda in improving health quality and increasing innovation and referral services. Apart from that, through BGSi, it is hoped that the public can understand how an individual's genetic patterns can influence the response to drugs
The last speaker, namely Prof. Dr. Gunadi, Ph.D, Sp.BA., Subsp.D.A(K) as Coordinator, Genetic Disorder (Rare Disease) Hub BGSi, RSUP Dr. Sardjito/ Gadjah Mada University. He delivered a presentation regarding "Potential Strategies for Clinical Adoption of Psychiatric Precision Medicine." It is hoped that this event will provide benefits to participants so they can find out about the latest developments and advances in Psychiatric Biobanking, especially related to Psychiatric Precision Medicine.
