JAKARTA - Minister of Health Budi G. Sadikin appointed the National Mental Health Center Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital as the coordinator of the Biomedical Genome-based Science Initiative (BGSi) hub in the field of mental health through Minister of Health Decree Number HK.01.07/MENKES/505/2024 concerning Implementation of Biomedical Genome -Based Science Initiative for Precision Medicines and Development of Genomics-Based Health Services, on Wednesday (20/03/2024).
Through this Minister of Health Decree, Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital is stated to have the task of coordinating the hub network and carrying out the strengthening and development of genomics-based mental health services.
As a coordinating hub, Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital has the function of collecting and storing specimens in the hospital's biobank and sending specimens to the Center for Biomedical and Health Genomics based on general guidelines for BGSi governance and its ecosystem. Apart from that, Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital is tasked with processing specimens using a multiomics approach and is used to improve health services in health service facilities.
Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital can also form a network with health service facilities to accelerate volunteer recruitment and coordinate the implementation of volunteer acceleration. Nearby, Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital can collaborate and collaborate with hospitals, research institutions, universities and other relevant parties, in accordance with statutory provisions.
