BOGOR – The National Center for Mental Health (PKJN) of RS Marzoeki Mahdi has officially launched its Home Care service as part of its Integrated Geriatric Services. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for the elderly through comprehensive and continuous healthcare services, even at home.
"The implementation of integrated geriatric services in hospitals aims to improve the quality of life, service quality, and patient safety for geriatric patients while also serving as a reference for the development of geriatric services in hospitals," said the President Director of RS Marzoeki Mahdi, Dr. Nova Riyanti Yusuf, Sp.KJ, during the inauguration of the Home Care service at Graha Ismaya PKJN RS Marzoeki Mahdi, Bogor, on Thursday (27/2/2024).
This initiative aligns with Indonesian Minister of Health Regulation No. 79 of 2014 on the Implementation of Geriatric Health Services in Hospitals.
"As part of our commitment to strengthening geriatric healthcare services, PKJN RS Marzoeki Mahdi previously sent two specialist doctors, Dr. Putu Lohita Rahmawati, Sp.N, and Dr. Yuniar Pukuk Kesuma, Sp.KJ(K), to Sawa Hospital in Japan for an observership program in May 2024. This experience inspired the establishment of a more specialized psychogeriatric service, the Dementia Center," she added.
Dr. Nova hopes that the newly launched Home Care service will run smoothly and provide significant benefits to the community.
"I hope this Home Care service operates successfully and helps many people," she concluded.
On its first day of operation, the PKJN RS Marzoeki Mahdi Home Care team provided care to an elderly patient in Sindang Barang, receiving appreciation from the patient’s family.
"Thank you to RS Marzoeki Mahdi for treating my grandmother. With Home Care, we feel greatly helped. This is exactly what I hoped for—to ensure my grandmother recovers from her wound without having to go to the hospital," said the patient's family.
The Home Care service at PKJN RS Marzoeki Mahdi offers various healthcare assistance. For dementia patients, it includes specialist consultations, cognitive function screening, family support, cognitive stimulation, and psychotherapy. Nurses can administer IV fluids, catheters, and feeding tubes, as well as provide wound care and complete in-home nursing services. Physiotherapists can assist patients with muscle and nerve exercises, as well as speech therapy. For postpartum mothers, PKJN RS Marzoeki Mahdi also provides midwifery services focusing on postpartum care.
The PKJN RS Marzoeki Mahdi Home Care team consists of specialist doctors, general practitioners, specialist nurses, general nurses, psychologists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, medical analysts, and occupational therapists.
